2007 –The Nathan Chapman Memorial Fund is pleased to announce the Third Annual SFC Nathan Chapman Memorial Golf Classic, to be held on September 10th and 11th at beautiful Cimarron Hills Golf and Country Club in Georgetown, Texas.
Kicking off the event at 3:30 p.m. on September 10th will be a ceremony at the Nathan Chapman Memorial, Fourth and Forest Streets in Georgetown, to honor Williamson County fallen heroes of the War on Terror. This will be followed by a Tribute Dinner and Auction at Cimarron Hills. Numerous sports celebrities, including coaching legends Darrell Royal and Emery Bellard, will be in attendance. The live auction, with outstanding items to interest everyone, will be presided over by auctioneer Jeff Stockton.
The Third Annual SFC Nathan Chapman Golf Classic will be held on Tuesday, September 11th on the world-class, Jack Nicklaus signature course. Celebrity golfers and members of our armed forces (our honored guests) will play with each team. Opportunities are available for sponsorships and teams in the event.
Net proceeds from this event will be contributed to the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships for the children of members of our armed forces who are killed or totally disabled in our nation's service, and to the Gold Star Family Support Center at Ft. Hood. The Center provides counseling, transitional support, and other assistance to Ft. Hood families who have lost loved ones in the line of duty.

January
4,
2002,
near
the
city
of
Khost,
Afghanistan,
Sergeant
First
Class
Nathan
Ross
Chapman
became
the
first
American
soldier
killed
by
enemy
fire
in
the
war
on
terror.
Sergeant
Chapman
had
volunteered
for
a
very
dangerous
mission,
working
alongside
CIA
operatives,
to
coordinate
actions
with
local
tribal
leaders.
When
his
small
convoy
was
attacked,
Sergeant
Chapman,
though
mortally
wounded,
continued
to
return
fire
to
cover
the
escape
of
his
comrades
until
he
lost
consciousness.
His
heroic
actions
are
credited
with
saving
their
lives.
His
parents,
Will
and
Lynn
Chapman,
reside
in
Georgetown,
Texas.
